Fear of flying training

SimFlying has a special 1-on-1 program for people who want to reduce their fear of flying. During this program you will be guided by one of our experienced instructors. He will take you on a flight in our simulator, after you get started with a cup of coffee or tea. The training takes about 2.5 hours and costs €300. What makes SimFlying’s fear of flying training unique? Most fear of flying training is given by a therapist/psychologist who tries to remedy the fear from a psychological perspective. Our training is much more hands-on, which means that we go through a flight from start to finish in the flight simulator under the guidance of one of our instructors, all of whom are commercial pilots by profession and thus make short- and/or long-haul flights weekly along with hundreds of passengers. What does fear of flying training look like? You always start at the table with an introduction to our instructor, at the table over a cup of coffee or tea. Among other things, we’ll tell you about the importance of aviation safety. We focus not only on “insensitive” numbers and percentages, but more importantly on your experience. We look at everything that happens during a flight. The explanation will be tailored to what you need to overcome your fear of flying. In fact, fear of flying can present in various forms. When you are ready, you take your place in the simulator with the instructor. Nothing happens at that point, you just sit down for a while at first and take in the impressions of the cockpit. The instructor provides more information and explanations about flying. The next step is to go simulator flying. We build it slowly and we show different systems, such as autopilot. We also explain to you what happens in the cockpit during a flight. Does it feel good? Then you can do a little flying yourself under the guidance of our instructor! After the flight, there will be a post-flight discussion where there will be plenty of time to ask questions. For whom is this training suitable? This training is especially suitable for participants where it is already known where the fear of flying mainly comes from, for example: fear of turbulence or landing, for example. The training is suitable for a maximum of two participants. Did you know.
- The departure and arrival airport of the simulated flight can be self-selected. So if you’re going to fly from Amsterdam to Barcelona, for example, we can recreate that very realistically.
- SimFlying has helped over 200 participants overcome their fear of flying since its inception in 2012.
- One in 15 persons worldwide experiences fear of flying.
- Fear of flying trainings are usually (unfortunately) not reimbursed by health insurance companies.
